Marketing and Communications Internship at Computer Aid International
Are you interested in helping businesses become more sustainable? Would you like to work in a charity, encouraging UK companies to adopt business practices that help reduce poverty in developing countries? If so, then this could be the ideal role for you. Computer Aid International is a UK registered charity, which aims to bridge the digital divide between rich and poor countries and reduce the causes of poverty in developing countries through the provision of ICT.
Companies across the UK replace hundreds of thousands of computers per year, most of which have many more years of use left in them. Just one unwanted PC can provide at least 6,000 hours of use, enough to train 60 children to a vocational level of IT literacy. This can make a huge difference to education and employment prospects in rural and poor communities, especially since many recipients of our computers would not otherwise have access to ICT.
At Computer Aid, we accept donations of unwanted PCs which we data wipe and professionally refurbish before sending them to not for profit organisations across Africa and Latin America for re-use in agriculture, health and education.
To date Computer Aid have sent over 195,000 PCs to not for profit organisations in over 100 developing countries.
