Devices are collected by a secure, certified courier which can be satellite tracked. Assets are scanned before loading and taken to Tier 1’s secure List X Facility in Manchester. A Waste Transfer Note is provided.
Data is sanitised via a three-level overwrite with verification, complete with disk audit including a serial number. This is performed using HMG/NIST-approved software.
Following the data wipe, assets are refurbished and graded according to their cosmetic condition for reuse by Computer Aid.
Assets that cannot be reused are sustainably recycled in compliance with the European WEEE directive using downstream recyclers with zero percent landfill.
When a hard disk drive (HDD) is inoperable or has bad sectors, the HDD is removed from machines and destroyed. A record of which asset the faulty HDD has come from is also recorded for audit purposes. All faulty HDDs are shredded and recycled. A certificate of destruction will be provided as part of our reporting to the client.
We ask for a simple inventory of the different types of equipment to be collected including the brand and model of any computers or monitors. From this and your postcode, we can determine the collection cost and the likely recycling needed. We will provide an estimate for you of costs, if any. Collections can usually be arranged quite quickly.
We have contracts for the management and disposal of legacy devices with many companies. We can provide examples if required. However, such contracts are not a requirement of ours and we do collect many devices from companies without formal contracts.
No one solution meets all the needs and requirements of every company. We can undertake on-site wiping if this is your company’s requirement. If your business plan is to generate revenue from a percentage of your end-of-life estate, then we can provide this or if required redeploy refurbished assets back into the business. All this can be done with just one partner, with evidence of data destruction in one place and accessible online 24/7.
Your donation of equipment will reach deserving beneficiaries either locally in the UK or internationally to those who need them most.
Our general policy is to charge for the cost of collection and for recycling equipment that cannot be reused. There is no charge for wiping hard drives or for any documentation we provide. However, where we can reuse most of the computers in a consignment then we reduce or waive the fees completely.
Indeed, our intention is to provide our service at no cost to the company and to cover our expenses through the residual value of the devices. Our ability to do this depends upon the quality of the kit collected.
On collection, equipment is packed onto pallets or into pallet boxes. We pay the cost by pallet. A single pallet of equipment from a mainland postcode will cost between £85 and £135 + VAT. Additional pallets cost less.
