Computer Aid is Growing in Africa!

Computer Aid International is proud to welcome Violet Mohotloane, Nicholas Eppel, Martin Kimani, and Reuben Nkukuu to our core team – a move that reflects our exciting growth across South Africa and Kenya! The appointments build on the organisation’s 27-year legacy of digital inclusion work and recognise the previous work that these four have undertaken during their time as part-time contractors.

In South Africa, under Violet’s management and with Nic’s involvement, the organisation has tripled its reach – from supporting 5 to 15 community-based computer labs in just one year. Her move to full-time Executive Director comes as expansion accelerates. Meanwhile in Kenya, Martin and Reuben have been instrumental in launching the local Kenyan office, setting up Solar Community Hubs and establishing sales of locally affordable refurbished digital devices.  “By employing locally, we’re not just expanding our international team- rather we’re expanding what’s possible in terms of partnerships and community impact,” said Keith Sonnet, our Chief executive.

Computer Aid International, which has operated across 100 countries and distributed over one million devices globally, sees these appointments as both a recognition of success and an investment in Africa’s digital future. The expanded team will focus on scaling impact across all of the organisation’s focus areas.
