Upgrading Colombia’s Solar Learning Lab into a Solar Community Hub

As the digital landscape evolves, so should our initiatives to meet the changing needs of the communities we aid. This means that our past projects require updates to remain effective.

One such project is Colombia’s Solar Learning Lab, launched in 2016 in partnership with Tiempo De Juego and Dell Technologies. Initially, this lab provided a safe space for young people in Cazucá, Bogotá, helping bridge the digital divide in a community with limited access to the internet and technology.

The Transformation: Solar Community Hub

In April 2024, we transformed the Solar Learning Lab into a Solar Community Hub to better serve the community and keep pace with digital advancements. We added new infrastructure, built with traditional bamboo architecture, to allow more capacity for the local community.

As part of this upgrade, we also renewed the on-site technology, providing a new donation from Dell including 20 laptops. These upgrades aim to help this initiative continue making a positive impact on the community in Cazucá.

Outside of the hub, our partner Tiempo De Juego have also been busy forming partnerships, a notable one being a strategic partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, to support employability and entrepreneurship for anyone who engages with the learning centre.
