Digital Skills for Older Learners in Ealing

Ayudar a los estudiantes mayores de Ealing a adquirir competencias digitales y confianza con el acceso a la tecnología

With the rapid pace of technological advancements, it’s easy for many older individuals to feel isolated or overwhelmed.

At Computer Aid, we believe that everyone deserves access to technology, regardless of age. That’s why we’re excited to support Ealing Age UK in launching their Digital Inclusion Service programme at Greenford Community Centre and Ealing Central Library.

The aim of this initiative is to encourage older learners to feel safe using technology and help them navigate the digital landscape with confidence and discover the many benefits of using the internet.

Supplying Essential Technology

The initial 10 laptops we provided were a crucial foundation for the programme, enabling Ealing Age UK to kickstart their support sessions at Greenford Community Centre.

These laptops allowed participants to fully engage in tailored Beginner and Improver 6-week programmes as well as drop-in sessions. For many older adults who either do not own a computer or find it difficult to bring their own devices, having access to technology in a supportive learning environment is essential.

Remarkable Achievements in 2023-24

The devices received helped this programme achieve the following:

  • Supported 308 older learner in gaining essential digital skills
  • 71% reported increased confidence in using technology
  • 79% felt less isolated and more socially connected
  • 85% expressed feeling inspired and motivated to go online
  • Delivered 39 6-week programmes
  • Successfully launched initiatives at both Greenford Community Centre and Ealing Central Library
