Computer Aid gains Charitable Status in the U.S.

Computer Aid International is now a registered non-profit charitable organisation in the United States. We are exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This designation allows individuals and corporations to receive full or partial tax deductions for equipment or monetary donations made to Computer Aid.

Our mission is to empower communities worldwide through equitable access to technology and digital inclusion. Our initiatives in Mexico and other South American countries have attracted growing interest and support from U.S. based corporations and philanthropic partners. A notable example is the “Oasis” Solar Community Hub project, delivered in partnership with Tecnológico de Monterrey and located in the La Campana and Altamira neighbourhoods of Monterrey, Mexico. This initiative is proudly funded by Dell Technologies and UKG, and aims to provide digital access, renewable energy, and educational resources to these underserved communities.

In addition to our Latin American outreach, we are actively building strategic alliances with U.S. based non-profits, such as the N50 Partnership, which focuses on expanding digital connectivity to the 50% of the global population currently without access to the internet. As members of the N50 initiative, Computer Aid contributed to the humanitarian response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis by partnering with other N50 organisations to design and deploy mobile connectivity centres across Romania, Poland and Ukraine—providing refugees with access to vital online resources and communication tools.

Our 501(c)(3) charitable status strengthens our operational capacity within the United States, enabling us to receive in-kind computer donations and pursue new funding streams. Through collaborations with leading global companies, we have already begun collecting and processing IT equipment from their U.S. offices, supporting our commitment to environmental sustainability and digital equity. Our aim is not only to reduce digital access inequalities in the United States but to replicate our successful work in Europe (where we mainly provide donations of technology to Africa) in the U.S to support the increasing digital divide in Latin America.
