Between 22 June and 3 July 2026, Computer Aid Kenya and Deed Technologies delivered a comprehensive facilitator-led training programme in Nyaishozi, Tanzania, combining computer maintenance, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and two days of onsite desktop support across the ward’s dispensaries and schools.
The programme covered computer fundamentals, preventative maintenance, operating system installation, troubleshooting, and practical applications of Artificial Intelligence. Training was delivered primarily in Kiswahili, while maintaining standard English technical terminology to familiarise participants with internationally recognised ICT concepts.

The programme successfully achieved and exceeded its intended objectives by combining practical ICT maintenance skills with emerging Artificial Intelligence capabilities. Participants not only developed the confidence and competence to diagnose, repair, and maintain computer systems, but also applied these skills immediately by restoring critical ICT infrastructure across schools and healthcare facilities in Nyaishozi.
Equally significant was the introduction of Artificial Intelligence as a practical tool for community problem-solving. Participants successfully designed an AI-assisted communication platform linking five local dispensaries, demonstrating that AI can be used to strengthen healthcare coordination and improve service delivery even in rural, low-resource environments.
The fact that this solution was developed by participants with no previous programming experience highlights the transformative potential of accessible AI tools. The deployment of an offline learning platform called ‘My Computer’ or ‘Kompyuta Yangu’ in Kiswahili further ensures that digital literacy development will continue long after the training has concluded, creating sustainable opportunities for independent learning across the community.
Overall, the programme delivered immediate operational benefits while building long-term local capacity in computer maintenance, digital literacy, and Artificial Intelligence. It provides a strong model for future community ICT initiatives that combine technical training with innovative, locally driven digital solutions.
