Certain areas of this Website are restricted from being access by you and Computer Aid International may further restrict access by you to any areas of this Website, at any time, in absolute discretion. Any user ID and password you may have for this Website are confidential and you must maintain confidentiality as well.

In these Website Standard Terms and Conditions, “Your Content” shall mean any audio, video text, images or other material you choose to display on this Website. By displaying Your Content, you grant Computer Aid International a non-exclusive, worldwide irrevocable, sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, translate and distribute it in any and all media.

Your Content must be your own and must not be invading any third-party’s rights. Computer Aid International reserves the right to remove any of Your Content from this Website at any time without notice.

5. No warranties

This Website is provided “as is,” with all faults, and Computer Aid International express no representations or warranties, of any kind related to this Website or the materials contained on this Website. Also, nothing contained on this Website shall be interpreted as advising you.

6. Limitation of liability

In no event shall Computer Aid International, nor any of its officers, directors, and employees shall be held liable for anything arising out of or in any way connected with your use of this Website whether such liability is under contract. Computer Aid International, including its officers, directors, and employees shall not be held liable for any indirect, consequential or special liability arising out of or in any way related to your use of this Website.

7. Indemnification

You hereby indemnify to the fullest extent Computer Aid International from and against any and/or all liabilities, costs, demands, causes of action, damages and expenses arising in any way related to your breach of any of the provisions of these Terms.

8. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid under any applicable law, such provisions shall be deleted without affecting the remaining provisions herein.

9. Variation of Terms

Computer Aid International is permitted to revise these Terms at any time as it sees fit, and by using this Website you are expected to review these Terms on a regular basis.

10. Assignment

The Computer Aid International is allowed to assign, transfer, and subcontract its rights and/or obligations under these Terms without any notification. However, you are not allowed to assign, transfer, or subcontract any of your rights and/or obligations under these Terms.

11. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between Computer Aid International and you in relation to your use of this Website and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms will be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the UK, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in UK for the resolution of any disputes.

Our Terms and Conditions / July 2026

Definitions:

Computer Aid International is hereafter called “Computer Aid”.

“Beneficiary Organisation” refers to the educational or community organisation that will end up using the PCs or laptops on its own desks (the end recipient). We need to know about this organisation and the use to which the computers will be put to determine whether this fits Computer Aid’s criteria for beneficiary organisations.

When an organisation other than the beneficiary organisation is making the application and/or paying the costs involved we call this the “Facilitating Organisation”. In such cases we need the details of the facilitating organisation in addition to those of the beneficiary to send to them the application approval and the pro-forma invoice.

Often a large NGO or funder will make an application on behalf of a local project or partner organisation e.g. the Education Development Trust might apply for PCs for a rural school. In such cases the school is the “beneficiary organisation” and the Trust is the “facilitating organisation”.

A “beneficiary organisation” can apply to Computer Aid directly without needing a “facilitating organisation” if the beneficiary can meet the criteria below independently.

In either case to consider your application you will need to confirm the following:

- That you will collect the computers yourself from the Computer Aid warehouse in Manchester, and pay the extra 20% VAT or
- That your shipping agent will collect the computers directly from the Computer Aid warehouse in Manchester. You will organise, and meet all costs relating to, all aspects of the shipping, customs clearance and transportation of the equipment to the recipient organisation, or
- That you require Computer Aid to organise, on your behalf, all transport, shipping, and marine insurance through to the freight terminal indicated. In such cases, in addition to the fee per computer, you will be required to pay all the related shipping and insurance costs. Before we can provide you with a quotation for this you will need to submit a completed application form detailing how many computers you want to send with details of the freight terminal. If your application is approved, we will provide you with a pro-forma invoice and details of how to transfer the necessary funds. In such cases we will be happy to arrange shipping and insurance through to the freight terminal at the local port or city indicated by you. You will need to accept responsibility for clearing local customs and be liable for all charges or expenses incurred from the point of arrival at the freight terminal. If you require this service, please state this clearly in your application and indicate the name of the port or freight terminal required.
That the beneficiary organisation is a registered “not-for-profit” or social enterprise.
That appropriate computer training, support and maintenance is available locally to the recipient organisation so that we can be sure that the computers will be put to immediate and productive use in a way which is sustainable.
That the beneficiary organisation has available premises, electrical provide and full and adequate security to ensure the immediate, productive and sustainable use of the equipment.
That Computer Aid has the right to visit beneficiary organisations on its regular evaluation exercises to assess the utility of this provision.
That wherever possible, the recipient organisation will ensure the responsible recycling of the computers at the end of their life.
That Computer Aid will make a handling fee charge per computer as a contribution towards our administrative and packaging costs. This amount will need to be received in full, and in advance, before we ship the consignment or otherwise make the computers available to you.
That as Computer Aid always has more requests than we can meet, we would reserve the right to decide upon our own priorities and to decline to meet any individual application.

Condition of Equipment, Warranty & Returns Framework in the UK

UK Warranty: Equipment supplied within the United Kingdom includes a 6‑month warranty covering hardware faults arising from normal use. Warranty claims must be reported within this period. Damage caused by misuse, external factors, or unauthorised repairs is not covered.

Whilst it is a fact that all computers are fully tested and working when they leave the workshop, Computer Aid cannot be held responsible for their condition upon arrival at the beneficiary organisation.

As a charity, our model is slightly different from commercial retailers. We do not operate under a standard consumer returns policy because the equipment we provide is donated, refurbished, and supplied as part of our charitable programme rather than sold as retail goods. Our equipment is supplied exclusively to non-profit organisations, and therefore UK consumer and distance‑selling regulations — which apply to commercial transactions involving individual consumers — do not apply in the same way. Even so, Computer Aid always aims to act fairly and responsibly when something does not meet expectations, and we follow the same principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability in resolving any issues that may arise.
