Focusing on Environmental Impact

Waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) such as computers, TV-sets, fridges and cell phones, is one the fastest growing waste streams in the EU and is expected to grow to more than 12 million tonnes by 2020.

The most effective way to reduce waste, is not create it in the first place. Furthermore, as much as 80% of the energy used across a PC’s working life is expended during its manufacture, before it is even switched on.

By donating to Computer Aid, businesses reduce their e-waste to zero as Computer Aid takes full responsibility for equipment and ensures that 0% goes to landfill. Our partners ensure this by using a manual disassembly process which breaks down items that cannot be re-used into their constituent parts for recycling, reducing waste and creating efficiencies. Our downstream partners are also thoroughly audited as part of our ISO accreditations:

- ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard
- ISO 27001 Information Security Standard
